Qantas Update on Disruption Caused by Air Traffic Controllers` Stoppage


Qantas this morning provided the following updated information on disruptions caused to its services due to industrial action by Airservices Australia Air Traffic Controllers.

More than 20 domestic trunk flights have been cancelled and in excess of 30 domestic trunk flights have been rescheduled. The majority of cancellations and disruptions affect services to and from Sydney, Brisbane and Coolangatta. Flights to Melbourne, Adelaide and Cairns have also been affected.

No flights have been cancelled in Western Australia or Northern Territory, although some minor delays can be expected.


QantasLink services, which operate mainly to and from regional and leisure destinations, have been significantly affected:

- Queensland: 16 cancelled, 28 rescheduled - NSW: 27 cancelled, 74 rescheduled - ACT: 14 cancelled, 19 rescheduled - Victoria: 1 cancelled, 1 rescheduled - Tasmania: 2 rescheduled - South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia: no flights cancelled.

There is some impact on international services. All international flights are expected to depart, although there will be some changes to times of departure.

Executive General Manager Aircraft Operations David Forsyth said Qantas staff had worked through the night to reschedule flights and were attempting to contact as many affected customers as possible.

He said customers travelling domestically should arrive at the terminal at least one hour before their scheduled departure time.
