CTO To Launch B2B, as well as other Online Initiatives at CTC

The Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), will launch three major online initiatives at CTC-26, Arley Sobers, CTO’s director of research and information management has announced.
The regional tourism body will launch an online booking engine, a business-to- business (B2B) marketplace and an interactive travel planner.
Mr. Sobers told journalists at a CTO news conference in Barbados that these initiatives were in keeping with the changes forced on the industry by the increasing use of technology.
“The Internet has changed consumer behaviour and it has created new models in the travel and tourism industry,” Mr. Sobers said.
“What CTO has been doing is to put together tools to help the region keep up with the changes,” he added.
The CTO director said that the booking engine would prove of great benefit to small hoteliers, in particular and to travel agents who would receive commissions.
The B2B Marketplace will provide a networking forum for all Caribbean businesses, including tourism-related businesses, while the Planner is designed to provide customised information to consumers.
