Spice Island Beach Resort commences US$400,000 room up-grade

In an effort to continually fine-tune its product and maintain the highest standards of luxury, Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada has embarked on a $400,000 room upgrade project throughout the property.  The project is expected to be completed by Dec. 15, 2003.

“In order to remain competitive and sustain our reputation for upscale accommodations, we must periodically make improvements whether it’s new soft goods, restyled bathrooms or other fine touches so that our guests continue to feel pampered and wrapped in elegance when they vacation with us,” said Royston Hopkin, CMG, owner and managing director of Spice Island Beach Resort.

The $400,000 project includes the following:
Upgrade of all the luxury private pool suite bathrooms;

Upgrade of all royal private pool suites with brand new upholstery, bedspreads, drapery and other window treatments (each of the four rooms in this category will have a different colour scheme);

Retiling of the patios in the royal private pool suites;

Addition of decorative moldings in all whirlpool beach suites, private pool suites, luxury private pool suites and royal private pool suites;

Upgrade of the bathroom vanities/sinks from cultured marble to granite in all whirlpool beach suites that have queen-size beds (these rooms will also be newly-outfitted with 12-foot glass sliding doors instead of the current six-foot doors);

Upgrade of the bathroom vanities/sinks from cultured marble to granite in all private pool suites;

Conversion of the entire resort (66 rooms) to upscale Frette sheets, towels and bathrobes - currently all pool suites have Frette linens but the upgrade will make this available in all room categories (Frette is an upscale Italian brand with higher than average thread counts so guests will enjoy enhanced softness and maximum comfort);

Addition of window valances in all whirlpool beach suites, luxury private pool suites and royal private pool suites;

All paintings in all categories of pool suites will be newly framed to coordinate with a particular room’s colour scheme;
Connecting doors will be added to another three pairs of rooms in the whirlpool beach suite category (six other pairs of rooms - three in the whirlpool beach suite category and three in the whirlpool ocean view category - already have connecting doors, so with this enhancement, a total of nine pairs will feature connecting doors, an ideal option for families or groups traveling together).
