Little Haiti (Miami) with RitmiKreyol

LITTLE HAITI, MIAMI FL - Merline Joseph and Cynthia Blanc are proud to present RitmiKreyol - Little Haiti`s free monthly cultural night, benefiting The Haitian Awareness & Cultural Foundation, Inc. RitmiKreyol will be monthly events, featuring cultural activities every last Saturday from 7:00 PM to 11:OO PM, showcasing Haitian/Kreyol arts and crafts, poetry readings, short plays, food, music, dance and performances by the biggest names from Haitian/Kreyol local and international artist.

The goal of RitmiKreyol is to encourage other Communities to interact within Little Haiti; and to increase the artistic, Cultural visibility of the area by showcasing
Haitian/Kreyol culture and heritage.

The inaugural RitmiKreyol will be held on Saturday, December 21st, 2002 from
6PM - 11PM between North East 59th Street and 62nd Street. The evening will begin at 6PM featuring a Christmas Tree lighting and decorating ceremony by students from Miami Edison Senior High School, The City Of Miami North Station Police Department, The Little Haiti NET Office, City Of Miami Officials and members of the RitmiKreyol Organization. Immediately following the Christmas tree ceremony the festivities will continue on the 59th Street RitmiKreyol stage featuring live performances by Hip Hop group ICONZ and Haitian Compas groups 509 and
Ti-Tabou, as well as special presentations by City Of Miami Officials, The North Station Police Department and students from Miami Edison Senior High School. All performances and activities are free. One lane along 59th Street and 62nd Street on NE 2 Avenue will be closed, and during the onstage activities residents, businesspeople and visitors will be able to move between 62nd Street and 59th Street to visit arts and crafts, food and several vendors, plus participate in a $100 domino competition.
