According to a recent Expedia.com poll of Expedia Traveler Council members, the majority of members plan on travelling this holiday season.

 

 

As of 11/15, 50.2% polled have made holiday travel plans:
16% have made travel plans for Thanksgiving

17.1% have made travel plans for Christmas

17.1% have made travel plans for both holidays

49.8% do not have travel plans

Thanksgiving travelers:

48.5% will travel by commercial airline

46% will travel by personal car

Christmas travelers:

62.9% will travel by commercial airline

32.5% will travel by personal car

Those who do not have travel plans for Thanksgiving (as of 11/15), said:

68.3% never intended to travel this holiday

10.3% are waiting for last minute travel deals

8.5% have financial concerns/worried about the economy

4.4% have security concerns

Of those who do not have travel plans for Christmas (as of 11/15), said:

56.1% never intended to travel this holiday
17.5% are waiting for last minute travel deals

10.6% have financial concerns/worried about the economy

5.7% have security concerns
