Customer Requests Drive BART Site Upgrade

The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) web site has been enhanced and includes a number of new features and enhancements for regular BART commuters and occasional customers alike.
BART trip plans are the most frequently used feature of the web site, and a new “BART Quick Scheduler” is now available on the front page for easy access. An “Expanded Trip Planner” provides more detailed trip planning information including station area maps and MapQuest driving directions. Free downloads for Palm OS devices are also available for BART customers on the go.
Basic rider information is now offered in seven languages - French, German, Italian, Spanish, and, with the proper plugins, Japanese and both classical and modern Chinese - to better serve BART`s diverse customer base. There`s also an improved search function at the top of every page that will locate information throughout the site.
The front page now features more dynamic, up-to-date content including news and features. Five new sections are faster to navigate, including “Stations and Schedules,” “Tickets,” “Rider Guide,” “News” and “About BART.” The updated site complies with new accessibility guidelines for customers with disabilities and features a complete text-only version that can be expanded to serve future wireless markets. Other features such as access to online ticket purchasing, online job applications and contracting information are also available.
