easyJet has announced plans for a new six times weekly service between London Luton and Tel Aviv, making it the first low-cost carrier to operate on the route.
The new flights will commence operations on 02 November, with fares leading in at £72 one way - about half the current prices for flights between London and Israel.easyJet’s winter routes also see a further expansion of operations in Morocco, with a
new twice weekly service between London Gatwick and Agadir, commencing 04 November.
Andy Harrison, easyJet’s chief executive, commented: “This is a major breakthrough. For the first time the traveling public in the London area has the choice between a high cost traditional airline and a low-cost alternative.”
“We look forward to bringing our unique blend of low fares with friendly service to a whole new market.”
The addition of these routes takes the total number of new easyJet services to be introduced in the coming year to 23.
The Tel Aviv move reflects strengthening demand for travel between the UK and Israel , with Jet2.com last week also expanding services from Manchester to Tel Aviv.
