Solaris Cambrian Hotel& Spa accepted into Mr and Mrs Smith

Solaris Cambrian Hotel& Spa which was opened in December 2007 following a complete refurbishment, has been accepted into the ever stylish Mr & Mrs Smith fold.

Reviewed by The Smith reviewer of the “Spa-sleek Swiss swish” style of the hotel that, “There is nothing quite like basking in a bubbling hot tub overlooking an awe-inducing mountain panorama and Sol’s Cambrian Hotel & Spa lets you do just that”.
The property has emerged as a relaxed but luxurious hotel with a contemporary feel located 100 metres from the centre of Adelboden, a charming and unspoilt village of traditional wooden chalets and a spectacular backdrop of the glorious Swiss Alps.

Developers have kept the essence of the early 20th century building whilst carefully re-styling for a more up to date style of living. With a minimal 71 rooms, that includes 23 suites, the hotel offers excellent dedication to service with a personal touch sometimes missing in large corporations. This touch is all part of the philosophy of Horst Schulze, the ex-CEO of The Ritz-Carlton who has created the Sol’s brand.
Other special touches to the hotel include the end rooms on each floor being lucky enough to contain two balconies and special family suites with two bedrooms, one built into the eaves giving a cosy feel and inspiring for those travelling with children.


Features include a spectacular sun terrace, cosy winter garden, Restaurant Nova serving delicious northern Italian food,Autralian themed Scott’s bar and two games rooms one aimed at younger children including soft toys, Lego and Wii and the other more for teenagers with a snooker table and board games.


The spacious 750 sq m spa uses 100% natural Sodashi products from Australia and includes a heated pool, a sauna, Turkish bath, Kneipp foot bath and relaxation area, and a well-equipped gym.


Adelboden is famous among the winter sports holiday fanatic and renowned as the home of the first ski package holiday organised by Sir Henry Lunn (one of the founders of Lunn Poly) in 1903.. It has a 170km ski area, accessed via 55 lifts, with pistes to suit every level of skier, from beginners, intermediates or off-piste experts. It even attracts the professionals, with FIS World Cup slalom events held in the resort every January.  Boarders are also welcome.

Adelboden accessible from the UK during the winter season, Flybe fly from Southampton to Bern, 40-minute road or rail journey away or numerous airlines fly to Zurich and Geneva, both of which offer easy, efficient train connections to the resort.
