Czech enjoys strong half year

In the first half of this year, Czech Airlines carried over 2.6 million passengers which constitutes a 5.7% increase over the same period last year.  In the first six months of 2008, Czech Airlines aircraft also carried over 10,100 tonnes of goods and post.  Overall, Czech Airlines operated over 20,000 flights. In June alone, the airline carried over 559,000 passengers, which is a year-on-year growth of 8.5 percent.

Scheduled Czech Airlines flights carried nearly 2.3 million passengers in the first half of the year, which is 5.4 percent more than during the same period of 2007.  That means that scheduled carriage accounted for the vast majority - nearly 90 percent - of the overall results.

The most sought-after destinations on scheduled Czech Airlines flights:
Moscow
Paris
Amsterdam
Madrid
London
Brussels
Rome
Copenhagen
Bucharest
Frankfurt

Over 333,000 passengers travelled on Czech Airlines charter flights from the beginning of January through the end of June, which constitutes an increase of nearly 8.2 percent.  The flights that were most in demand were to exotic destinations, such as Varadero in Cuba, the Caribbean island of La Isla Margarita, and destinations in the Dominican Republic, but also traditional Mediterranean destinations, such as Egypt, Spain, and Greece.

Czech Airlines is continuously adapting its services to meet passengers’ requirements.  Most Czech Airlines flights offer the possibility of the convenient Internet Check-in, which significantly reduces the time a passenger would otherwise have to spend at the airport prior to his flights.  In addition to visiting a VIP lounge, Business Class passengers can make use of the Fast Track Service - fast passage through Prague Airport.  An innovation for all Czech Airlines passengers when departing from Prague is the complimentary wrapping of baggage in protective foil.

Czech Airlines’ services are among the best rated.  Standing as testimony to this is not only a number of awards, but also the results of passenger satisfaction surveys.  In the most recent SkyTeam Alliance survey, for example, Czech Airlines’ in-flight services in Business Class on long-haul flights were rated as the best, and in Economy Class as the second best.  On short and medium-haul routes, in-flight services in Business Class ranked fourth, and in Economy Class third, in the SkyTeam Alliance.  The services of Czech Airlines’ Contact Centre were rated as the best in the Alliance.

In regular monthly assessments for 2008, Czech Airlines has maintained 1st place in the on-time departure record among 26 major European airlines.  The Airline also achieved the best on-time departure record for all of last year.

Czech Airlines is also gradually replacing its medium-haul aircraft fleet. 13 of the most modern Airbus A320/319 aircraft are already in service, primarily on European routes. And the long-haul flight aircraft, the Airbus A310, which Czech Airlines deploys on its scheduled daily flight to New York, is undergoing interior refurbishment.  The aircraft, in a new livery and with a new contemporary interior, will present itself to passengers later this month.

In 2007, Czech Airlines aircraft carried 5.6 million passengers.  In 2006, Czech Airlines carried 5.5 million passengers, and 5.2 the year before.
