Star sends SuperStar Virgo to Hong Kong

Star Cruises is redeploying its 1,960 guest SuperStar Virgo to Hong Kong in April, in line with the cruise line’s commitment to providing interesting Far East cruise options for international markets such as the UK, and development in the Greater China market.The deployment of the SuperStar Virgo to Hong Kong also helps to boost Hong Kong’s market significance as an international cruise centre.

SuperStar Virgo will depart from Singapore on 28th March and be based from Hong Kong until 19th October 2008. On the repositional cruise from Hong Kong, SuperStar Virgo will call at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Sanya in China on 30th March and 1st April respectively prior arrival in Hong Kong on 2nd April. Her inaugural Hong Kong cruise season will comprise of destination cruises to Xiamen and Sanya in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam. There will also be four special cruises to Keelung, Taiwan in April, June, July and September.

The 800 guest SuperStar Gemini will return to Singapore on 17th February 2008 following a season ‘down under’ offering cruises in Australasia. SuperStar Gemini will sail seven-night cruises from Singapore taking in Kuala Lumpur (Port Klang), Penang, Krabi, Phuket, and Langkawi. Popular with UK travellers, SuperStar Gemini also offers a 10-night cruise calling at Ko Samui, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang, an 11-night cruise calling at Halong Bay, Nha Trang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching, plus 21-night cruises from Singapore and Hong Kong.

 

Mick Dupont, director of sales and marketing Europe says “This is SuperStar Virgo’s first ever season based from Hong Kong and the move presents lots of opportunities for specialist cruise agents whose clients are looking for new non-traditional cruise itineraries. Plus, Far East operators can combine these cruises with city breaks and longer stays in China for a package in the region that appeals to both stalwart and first time cruisers looking to maximise their time in the Far East.”

 

During the Hong Kong-based season of SuperStar Virgo, the 1,529 guest SuperStar Aquarius - which joined the Star Cruises fleet in June 2007 - will offer a combination of four night destination cruises from Singapore to Penang, Malaysia and Phuket, Thailand. The first ex-Singapore cruise of SuperStar Aquarius takes place on 30th March 2008 and SuperStar Aquarius will return to Hong Kong in October 2008.

 

The 1,480 guest SuperStar Libra is also home-ported in Hong Kong, and is offering six night cruises to Sanya (China), Zhanjiang (China), Halong Bay (Vietnam), Danang (Vietnam) and Haikou (China); a five night cruise calling at Haikou and Halong Bay; four-night cruises to Sanya, Halong Bay and Haikou; a three night cruise calling at Kaohsiung (Taiwan) and two night cruises to Haikou, Zhanjiang or Keelung (Taiwan), until the end of March 2008.
