easyCar appoints new CEO

easyCar.com has appointed Bill Jones as it’s new CEO effective immediately.

Bill joins easyCar.com from Hertz Europe, where he was Vice President Marketing & Sales for more than nine years. Before his career at Hertz, he had senior management roles at Disneyland Paris, Thomas Cook and Hogg Robinson Travel. Bill will replace Steve Maltby, the current CEO, who has left easyCar at the end of October.

Stelios said: “I’m very pleased with the appointment of Bill. He is a senior professional with a great deal of experience in the car rental industry in particular and the travel industry in general, and I’m sure he will be a great asset in developing our business further.

Since the start, as a car rental company in 2000, easyCar has evolved into the more efficient internet-based business model of being a pure online car rental broker and IT is now one of the leading players in Europe. Bill is the perfect candidate to take the company to the next level, which may include an IPO in the next two to three years. In order to achieve that objective, Bill has been tasked to keep the growth rates of the company at high levels in the UK and also to expand further into other European and international markets.”

easyCar.com is one of the leading worldwide car rental brokers, offering low cost car hire in more than 2,400 locations in over 60 countries worldwide. Most recently easyCar has expanded into van rental in the United Kingdom under the easyVan.com brand. easyCar was launched in April 2000 by Stelios, the founder of the easyGroup of companies including easyJet.
