Jetstar donates to charity for web bookings

Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar will donate AUS$5 for every domestic flight segment booked on Jetstar.com This will occur before midnight 30 August 2007 and donations will go to StarKids, a new joint initiative with World Vision which helps give children in the world’s poorest communities a brighter future.

Jetstar’s partnership with World Vision aims to raise $3 million dollars in three years for the program StarKids which was launched in May this year to raise funds for community based projects in key Jetstar international destinations such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and projects within Australia.

Today’s innovative online initiative will help boost fundraising for the StarKids program.

Jetstar’s Group General Manager Bruce Buchanan said the airline was urging people to book their next domestic flight today to maximise the funds raised for StarKids.

“Jetstar processes thousands of online bookings a day, so there is the potential for us to raise many thousands of dollars for the StarKids program from today’s event.

“This is one of many initiatives we will undertake to support StarKids but is the first that enables consumers to help Jetstar raise valuable funds.

World Vision Chief Executive Tim Costello said: “Five dollars can go a long way towards helping families with basic needs.

“Funds raised through the StarKids initiative will help to provide clean drinking water, healthcare and agricultural training in some of our most crucial areas,” he said.

“The Jetstar contribution will result in meaningful changes in the lives of people living in poverty.”
