Lufthansa on track to hit one billion in profit

Lufthansa
has said that it expects to meet its full year target of operating profits exceeding more than 1 billion euros and sees no impact from the current financial crisis.Board member Stefan Lauer made the statement at a media event last night adding that in July business had also developed in-line with expectations.

Lauer also said that both Iberia and Alitalia, which are up for sale, are still interesting but Iberia is overrated by the market and the necessary conditions for bidding for Alitalia are not present.

Lauer also said Lufthansa would not rush into any further takeovers that did not make sense for the airline. “Reason goes before gut feeling,” Lauer said.
