China Southern marks safety milestone

China Southern Airlines has celebrated 10 years of safe
flight service between China and the United States.The airline held a gala celebration in Guangzhou to commemorate its 10th Anniversary
of Boeing 777 transpacific service between China and the United States.

Present at the ceremony were more than 200 guests from the varied circles, including
CAAC Minister Mr. Yang Yuan Yuan; Guangdong Vice Governor Mr. Tong Xing and senior
management from the State Council’s State-Owned Assets Supervision and
Administration Commission; Guangzhou municipal government; CAAC administrations in
varied regions; other Chinese airlines; the Boeing Company; GE Company and the U.S.
Consulate General in Guangzhou.

 

China Southern has safely transported more than 500,000 people between the two
nation’s and after a decade of operations, has grown its 777 fleet to the
largest of that kind in The People’s Republic of China - with 10 777s
and 188 pilots.

In addition to the five weekly flights between Guangzhou and Los Angeles, the
airline’s 777 fleet is operating to numerous international destinations,
including:

 

-      Guangzhou - Melbourne/Sydney

-      Guangzhou - Tokyo

-      Guangzhou - Paris

-      Guangzhou - Dubai and

-      Shanghai - Amsterdam

 

Ever since the first introduction of the 777 in 1995, the carrier’s fleet have
become the first choice for passengers and the airline’s ‘Flagship
Brand’ with a safe flight record, state-of-the-art entertainment system,
spacious cabin and quality in-flight service.

 

China Southern Airlines’ 777 fleet has recorded more than 110,000 safe
take-offs and landings with a total flight trip up to 207.633 million kilometers;
more than 340,000 hours flown and 21 Million passengers carried, equal to the
airline’s total annual passenger traffic in 2002 when the carrier entered into
the world Top 20 airlines.
