Priceline targets group travellers

Priceline.com is making two changes to its hotel
services that will enable groups of customers to book up to 1,000
rooms at special discounts and prices.

Priceline.com announced today that its Name Your Own Price(R) and
Published-Price hotel services, which previously allowed customers to
book up to four hotel rooms, have both been expanded to accommodate up
to nine rooms at a time.

Priceline.com also announced today the launch of a group hotel
booking service on priceline.com, http://www.findgroupdeals.com/. The
group hotel service is ideal for weddings, reunions, traveling teams
and business meetings. To use the service, customers fill in the
number of rooms they want (between 10 and 1,000), the dates and the
destination. Participating hotels then respond with competing rate
quotes. FindGroupDeals.com guarantees that their rates will be the
best or the group coordinator’s room is free. Groups booking through
the new priceline.com service can qualify for rebates of up to $250
(see website for full details). Also, booking groups can create their
own event Web site, at no charge, to provide information and
registration forms for group members.

Priceline.com offers two different ways to book rooms in thousands
of hotels around the world. Customers who want to book a particular
hotel can use priceline.com’s Published-Price hotel service, which
features an easy to search grid with descriptions, ratings and
rankings from previous hotel guests and from the Zagat Survey,
amenities, pictures, maps and prices for all the available hotels in a
given destination. More flexible customers can opt for priceline.com’s
Name Your Own Price(R) hotel service, where they pick the destination
and neighborhood, desired star level, dates and the price they want to
pay. Priceline.com then works to find a hotel willing to sell a room
at the customer’s desired price. Customers using priceline.com’s Name
Your Own Price(R) hotel service can save up to 50% compared to the
published prices found on other major online hotel reservation
services.

“We believe that many of our customers have been looking for a way
to bring along more of their friends and enjoy the savings that
priceline.com’s hotel services offer,” said priceline.com Senior Vice
President, Hotels, Tim Gordon. “Today, we are pleased to launch these
new features and services.”
