Flybe launches Cornwall-Geneva flights

Ski enthusiasts living in Cornwall will be able to fly direct from their local airport this winter when Flybe introduces weekly flights from Newquay Cornwall Airport to Geneva.  Flights will operate each Saturday, starting on February 2 through to March 29, 2008.

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, launches this new winter destination as part of its biggest ever winter seat sale.  This also sees the introduction of its first ever European route from Newquay Cornwall Airport.

Flybe’s winter schedule, effective 28th October, also sees the low cost carrier responding to strong consumer demand by continuing its direct service between Newquay and Edinburgh throughout the winter season, opening up the region to Scottish travellers year-round and continuing to bring affordable travel choice to the South West.

Geneva flights go on sale today at www.flybe.com - from £49.99 one way, including taxes and charges.  Geneva will be Flybe’s third destination from Newquay Cornwall Airport.

Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe commented: “The launch of our brand new route to Geneva is of key strategic importance to both Flybe and the South West region, providing a vital low cost link that will benefit both business and leisure travellers alike. The year-round extension of our Edinburgh service should also prove incredibly popular, so we’re delighted that we can continue to bring greater travel choice to Newquay.”

Andrew Mitchell, a Councillor and Economic Portfolio holder for Newquay Cornwall Airport said:  “We are delighted that Flybe is launching this new service to Geneva from Newquay.  This will shave several hours off the journey time for Cornwall residents.  Being able to fly from their local airport will be an enormous plus this winter, not to mention the attractive fares and packages on offer with Flybe.”
