IHG preps Miami hotel for summer

IHG has announced that
the renovated 253-room Holiday Inn Miami Beach oceanfront property will open this
summer. “The Holiday Inn Miami Beach offers travelers a unique guest experience right in
the heart of one of America’s hottest tourist spots,” said Mark Snyder, senior vice
president, Brand Management, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts.  “This property is
situated in an outstanding location for both business and leisure travelers,
features all of the conveniences and amenities people have come to expect from the
brand, and is key in expanding our Holiday Inn consumer base in a city that appeals
to a widespread group of travelers from around the world.”

The hotel, which first opened in the late 1950s as the Empress Hotel, was
subsequently converted into The Barcelona Hotel, and then later became a Best
Western property. As the hotel becomes the Holiday Inn Miami Beach, it will maintain
its chic Miami Modern (“MiMo”) style and mid-century exterior. Additionally, the $2
million renovation will consist of a contemporary look in both the hotel’s interior
architectural design and room décor.

The Holiday Inn is situated in Miami Beach along the boardwalk near several
businesses including SONY Latin America, Inc. and Mount Sinai Hospital. It also is
in close proximity to tourist destinations like South Beach, the Port of Miami and
Parrot Jungle. Some of the hotel’s key amenities include: free Wi-Fi, in addition to
wired hi-speed, in all guest rooms;

one meeting room and one ball room comprising 1,600 sq.-ft. of meeting space; valet
and covered parking; four suites; outdoor pool; water sports; fitness center; tour
desk; and same day laundry service.

The Holiday Inn Miami Beach’s restaurant, Surfside Café, offers guests a casual
dining experience that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and features Rainforest
Alliance Certified coffee. Kids 12 and younger eat free at Holiday Inn when ordering
from the kids’ menu in the hotel restaurant and accompanied by a dining adult. Room
Service Right…On Time(tm) ensures that guests’ room service orders are accurate
and delivered on time, every time.

Standard Holiday Inn guestroom accommodations feature comfortable double, queen or
king-sized beds, a sitting area with a lounge chair, cable television, hairdryer,
coffee-maker, iron and ironing board.  Guestrooms also include a work desk and
ergonomic chair, data ports, free USA Today newspapers, and in-room check-out

“We’ve invested millions of dollars in this property to attract a variety of
guests,” said Francisco Astete, general manager.  “From leisure travelers seeking a
fun getaway to business travelers working in South Florida, we’re confident that the
Holiday Inn Miami Beach will serve as a practical and enticing guest experience in a
city that already has so much to offer.”
