Continental adds $30mn to pension pot

Continental Airlines has contributed an additional $30 million in cash to its defined benefit pension plans, bringing its total year-to-date contribution to $136 million.This contribution exceeds the minimum funding requirement applicable to Continental’s plans.

“We are committed to fulfilling our pension obligations and keeping our promise to co-workers,” said Larry Kellner, chairman and chief executive officer.

Continental currently expects to contribute $320 million to its pension plans in 2007, significantly exceeding its minimum funding requirement of $185 million for the year.
