Starwood inks Brigade deal in India

Starwood Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Indian real estate major Brigade Group to manage their Sheraton Bangalore Hotel. The new-build Sheraton Bangalore Hotel is expected to open in April 2009.


Sheraton Bangalore Hotel will be part of a mixed-use integrated township development - Brigade Gateway, with master planning by H.O.K., New York, and will comprise luxury residential apartments; one of the city’s tallest and premium office buildings-North Star; The Brigade School; Galaxy Club; Columbia Asia Hospital; one of Bangalore’s biggest shopping malls-Orion; and the Sheraton Hotel, in the emerging business district of Malleswaram - Rajajinagar in Bangalore city.

Scheduled to open in 2009, Sheraton Bangalore Hotel will feature approximately 250 rooms with conferencing facilities, four restaurants and a health club and spa.

Bangalore is located in the state of Karnataka, and is approximately a one hour flight from Mumbai and a two and a half hour flight from New Delhi. Bangalore gained its commercial popularity as an IT hub/center around the world following the entry of Microsoft, Intel, IBM and other similar companies, and will continue to be an important technological center in the emerging world.
