Press: Air France mulling joint bid for Alitalia

Air France-KLM is mulling the possibility of constituting a new company with other airlines in SkyTeam to present a joint offer for ailing Italian airline Alitalia SpA, Finanza & Mercati newspaper reported, not citing sources. According to the daily, Korean Air, Aeromexico are also interested in the Italian airline, with CSA Czech Airlines interested only in a small stake.

Other members of the SkyTeam alliance are Delta Air Lines Inc, China Southern Airlines Co, Continental Airlines Inc and Northwest Airlines Corp.

The Italian government has invited interested parties to present bids for a stake of between 30.1 pct and 49.9 pct of Alitalia by Jan 31.

Separately, daily Il Sole 24 Ore reported that Italian market regulator Consob has asked Alitalia to file monthly reports on its debt situation, as it does for all companies on its ‘black list’.
