PRESS: Italian financiers not in for Alitalia

Financiers Carlo De Benedetti and Roberto Colaninno told Prime Minister Romano Prodi they aren’t interested in making a bid for loss-making airline Alitalia, financial daily Il Sole 24 Ore reports Thursday. The paper, without citing sources, says the two told Prodi on Monday there were too many conditions attached to the government’s sale of its controlling stake.

The newspaper also says Italy’s Treasury Ministry tender for advisors to the sale limits their commission to 0.5% of the deal value in the event the Alitalia disposal is successful.
