Amadeus grows UK & Ireland team

Amadeus is forming a dedicated team for the UK and Irish hospitality market. The appointments come at a time when both countries’ hospitality industry is booming. PKF management consultancy recently reported 88.6% occupancy in the UK hotel market - up by 13.9 percentage points in twelve months. Guillaume Thevenot will work with travel agencies in the UK and Ireland to assess and meet their hospitality needs and Brian Garvan will lead Amadeus’ expansion of its IT offer for hotels in the UK and Irish market. Both Guillaume and Brian are based at Amadeus’ UK office in Crawley.

The new team is part of a global initiative to strengthen Amadeus’ commitment to the hospitality industry - the company now has nearly 400 consultants and developers dedicated to hospitality around the world. Brian and Guillaume will combine this global strength with their local expertise in the UK and Irish markets.

Amadeus now provides a full suite of IT solutions to hoteliers to optimise their revenue, distribute inventory and manage the guest experience. Amadeus Hotel Revenue Management System boosts revenues by up to 8%; Amadeus’ distribution solutions can take a hotel’s available rooms to the door of travel agents in 75,000 locations around the world and Amadeus Property Management Solutions offer unparalleled ability to manage the guest experience from check-in to check-out.

For travel agencies, Amadeus offers access to more than 68,000 independent and chain hotel properties - many of which have signed up to Amadeus Best Available Rate guaranteeing Amadeus agents their best prices. Independent research by Hermes Management Consultants has established that agents can book hotels 25% faster using Amadeus than the competition.

Stephane Durand, Managing Director of Amadeus UK & Ireland, said: “We are extremely pleased to have Guillaume and Brian on board.  Amadeus continues to experience strong growth in the UK and Ireland and one area we believe we can make a real difference with our technology is in the hospitality sector.  We are now at a critical stage where Guillaume and Brian’s experience will be put to great use in helping us to develop our hospitality offerings for travel agents and hoteliers and accelerate our expansion.”
