Worldspan signs two Mexican carriers

Aeroméxico and Mexicana Airlines have both finalised a new multi-year agreement with global travel technology leader Worldspan, L.P. Under the new full content distribution agreement, Aeroméxico and Mexicana will distribute their complete portfolio of published flights, schedules, availability and fares, including Web-based fares, to travel retailers and corporations worldwide that rely on the Worldspan global distribution system (GDS) for travel planning and procurement.

The renewed technology partnerships coincide with Worldspan’s 15th year in business in Mexico as a leading GDS provider and preferred technology partner among the market’s airlines and travel agencies. Through the agreement, Worldspan will continue to support Mexicana Airlines and Aeroméxico’s use of several industry-leading Worldspan airline IT solutions.

“Worldspan’s expertise, GDS performance and airline-driven solutions have helped Aeroméxico produce high yields and lower costs for many years,” said José Manuel D’az de Rivera, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Aeroméxico. “We have strong, loyal ties with travel buyers regionally and worldwide through Worldspan and we will continue to rely on Worldspan’s proficiency as our technology requirements evolve.”

“Worldspan and its airline staff continually enrich the value we derive from this partnership, making our new agreement a much-anticipated and welcome progression for Mexicana,” said Sergio Allard, chief sales and marketing officer for Mexicana. “Through Worldspan, we have timely access to innovative airline technologies, prompt response to our service needs and superior global visibility through a leading GDS.”

“We’re pleased to reaffirm our commitment to Mexico’s leading airline and largest international carrier as we mark 15 years of service to Mexico’s travel market,” said Kevin Ficco, vice president - Airline Distribution and Business Development for Worldspan. “This new agreement ensures Worldspan will continue to provide complete, long-term access to Aeroméxico and Mexicana Airlines’ content for our subscribers throughout the world.”
