Third Delta hotel arrives in Canada

Delta Hotelsentering into a long-term licence agreement with Calgary-based Hospitality Inns Limited. The Best Western Hospitality Inn in Calgary will be branded Delta Calgary South by early October 2006.

Located at the crossroads of Southland Drive and MacLeod Trail, adjacent to many of the city’s business parks, the future Delta Calgary South will undergo a three million dollar renovation, involving the addition of a new meeting facility and a redesign of its atrium and public spaces, to bring it to the national brand’s first-class standards.

“Hospitality Inns is entering a new and exciting era as it begins its relationship with Delta Hotels,” says Keith Bryant, company president. “We are proud of this new brand decision and will continue to manage our hotel with the same family focus and values we’ve become known for in this city for almost four decades.”

With 252 guest rooms, including family-size and barrier-free rooms, the AAA Three Diamond hotel also features the Boomtown Pub and Patio, The Atrium Café and Skylight Lounge and the Bonaventure Lounge, as well as a 24-hour business centre, a fitness centre with two swimming pools, waterslide and whirlpools. It also offers 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom that accommodates up to 300 for receptions. High-speed Internet and WiFi access is available in all guest and meeting rooms and all public spaces.

Already a popular choice for sports teams, the hotel also attracts groups and families with amenities like Big Gusher, the area’s largest indoor hotel waterslide, with 130 twisting feet of fun. Local attractions include Southland Leisure Centre and Family Leisure Centre, Fish Creek Provincial Park, one of Canada’s largest urban parks, and Southcentre Mall and Chinook Centre Mall. Most are easily accessed by the city’s light rail transit (LRT) system, a short walk from the hotel. The hotel is within ten minutes of Spruce Meadows, the renowned equestrian facility that hosts a series of show jumping tournaments each year.

Delta Calgary South will be the third Delta-branded option in the city, joining the downtown Delta Bow Valley and Delta Calgary Airport, and one of seven Delta locations in Alberta.
