Virgin boosts flights to New York

Virgin Atlantic is pleased to announce an increase in services to New York. The airline’s sixth daily service from London Heathrow will commence on 1st July 2006.

The VS025 will be operated by an A340-600 and will depart London Heathrow at 18.00 and arrive in JFK at 21.00 the same day.

The VS026 departs from JFK at 07.30 arriving into London Heathrow at 19.10. This new daylight service from New York will match the demand from passengers on both sides of the Atlantic for morning flight departures.

Since operations started between London and New York in June 1984, Virgin Atlantic has flown nearly 163 million miles carrying approximately 12.5 million passengers with around 25 million meals served onboard.

Steve Ridgway, Chief Executive of Virgin Atlantic said:

“Greater frequency and the best service in the air are attracting more and more business travellers. The launch of our sixth daily service between London and New York gives all of our travellers more choice every day, also enabling them to take a day flight back from New York in comfort. Virgin Atlantic is the only way to fly to ‘The Big Apple’.”

Virgin Atlantic also expands its services between London and Dubai from 1st July 2006, with flights now daily. Since the service began in March 2006, load factors have been very high, confirming that business travellers are choosing to experience the best service in the air and on the ground.
