Press: Strike forces Iberia to cancel flights

Iberia was forced to cancel at least 30 flights and cause numerous delays yesterday due to a cabin crew strike, affecting 2.5 pct of the airline’s flight operations, La Vanguardia reported, citing company sources. Separately, La Vanguardia cited cabin crew union CTA sources as saying there were nearly 50 cancelled flights.

The CTA, is protesting Iberia’s decision to subcontract part of the flight production through Audeli, a unit of Gestair, La Vanguardia reported.

Last week, Iberia pilots union Sepla announced a wave of strikes to begin the second week of July and to last through September against the airline’s decision to slash routes operating from Barcelona airport El Prat.
