New TAP A320 unveiled

TAP’s fleet has just grown to 47 with the addition of the new A320, CS-TNP, named “Alexandre O’Neill” in honour to the great Portuguese Poet of the 20th century who died 20 years ago. The new aircraft has been painted in the Star Alliance livery and is entering service today, operating the flight TP 424, Lisbon - Paris (Charles de Gaulle).

All the airline members of Star Alliance have at least one aircraft in the Alliance’s livery. Thus, from now TAP also has an aircraft displaying Star Alliance’ s Image, after having completed its first year of membership on March 14, 2006.

Star Alliance has recently further strengthened its leading position among the aviation alliances, with the joining, last April, of both Swiss and South African Airways as new members plus the announcement of two Chinese companies - Shangai Airlines and Air China - due to become new entrants in the near future.
Thereby, Star Alliance is decisively reinforcing its positioning as a truly global airline alliance to offer customers worldwide reach.

Overall, the Star Alliance network offers more than 15.500 daily flights to 842 destinations in 152 countries.

TAP’s decision of having one of its medium haul aircraft (one of 35) in the Star Alliance livery is clearly aimed at stressing the importance of the Alliance to the Company as well as its key-role in generating, together with TAP, more traffic into Portugal, especially to TAP’s Hub in Lisbon, thus strongly supporting the growth of the tourist flow to Portugal.
