Lyddair expands fleet

LyddAir is adding private charter flights to its scheduled service. Starting in July 2006, LyddAir charter flights will operate from London Ashford Airport (Lydd) in Kent to Le Touquet in northern France and beyond.

LyddAir has operated a successful scheduled service to the chic seaside town of Le Touquet for many years. Soaring passenger demand has prompted the airline to expand and the company has recently invested in adding four extra aircraft to the fleet. This additional capacity is allowing LyddAir to offer new services, in particular private charter flights.

‘We believe that the new charter packages will supplement our existing scheduled service and prove very popular with customers,’ said LyddAir Managing Director Jonathan Gordon.

The new aircraft - 10-seat Piper Navajo Chieftains - are faster and can go further than the 16-seat Trislander’s that operate the daily Le Touquet service. The charter service will enable LyddAir to travel further afield and allow passengers to structure their own holiday, business trip or corporate event.

The airline has already operated many successful golfing charters to France and is operating a WWII veteran charter over Caen in June. Innovative ideas like French house hunting charters and French gastronomy charters are also likely to have appeal to people with a love of France.
