Singapore heads for Milan and Barcelona

Two of southern Europe’s style and fashion capitals are about to join the Singapore Airlines network, with the commencement of a three-times-weekly service to Milan and Barcelona from 19 July 2006.Flights will be operated using a Boeing 777-200ER (Extended Range) aircraft, departing Singapore on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with next-day return flights.

With the addition of these new destinations, Singapore Airlines will fly 81 times weekly to 12 cities in Europe. The number of destinations in the Airlines’ route network will also increase to 65 in 35 countries.

Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Marketing and Regions, Mr Huang Cheng Eng, said the flights expand the airline’s presence in the Mediterranean, supplementing current services to Rome and Athens.

“Both Milan and Barcelona are highly cosmopolitan cities, with a lot to offer to both the business and the leisure traveller.

“With the launch of these flights, Singapore Airlines will be able to meet demand for these destinations from across our Asian and South Pacific network, while also expanding our presence in Europe to 12 gateways,” he said.
