Macdonald takes top Scottish awards

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts picked up two prestigious industry honours, as well as commendations in
almost every category, at the Scottish HotelReview Awards.

The Macdonald Pittodrie House Hotel, one of Scotland’s most historic hotels,
was awarded the top honour of Scottish Country House Hotel, voted for by a
panel of 14 experts from the hospitality industry along with votes from the
public. Set in a 12,050 acre estate at the foot of Bennachie, the hotel was
recognised for the quality of facilities and services on offer.

Jacqueline Hill, manager of the Vital Spa at the Macdonald Marine Hotel &
Spa, was voted Scottish Hotel Spa Manager. With the Spa having opened just
five months ago following a massive £2.5m investment (part of the hotel’s
massive £16m refurbishment), Jacqueline was instrumental in establishing the
Spa facilities that have proved a huge success with guests and staff.

In addition, the group’s hotels and personnel were runners up in three
categories and received commendations up to “Very Highly Commended” in 10
further categories.

Commenting on the awards, Donald Macdonald, Executive Chairman, said:

“I am delighted with the group’s success at the Scottish HotelReview Awards.
Winning two awards and being commended in such a wide range of categories is
a great achievement. This is even more significant when the voting process
included the public as well as industry experts. Our philosophy of “people,
standards and service” is a key factor behind this success. It is a great
testament to the effort of every member of staff that we have been
recognised in so many categories at these awards.

“The awards also come at a significant point for Macdonald. Having committed
to a £150m development programme just over a year ago, we are pleased that
this is already making an impact. From developments and refurbishments, such
as the Macdonald Marine Hotel & Spa, to adopting a fresh innovative approach
to food and drink, the programme is progressing well towards our aim of
being a leader in the premium 4 star hotel market.”
