InterConti Hong Kong signs on Nobu

InterContinental Hong Kong has officially signed an agreement with internationally acclaimed Japanese chef/restaurateur Nobuyuki Matsuhisa to open a NOBU restaurant at the hotel.  Scheduled to open in November 2006, NOBU will replace the hotel’s innovative seafood restaurant, Yü, which opened in 1993.

When NOBU at InterContinental Hong Kong opens in November, it will be the first NOBU restaurant in Asia outside of Japan and the sixth to open internationally.  Nobu has 16 restaurants in 12 cities around the world.

“We are thrilled to work with such a respected chef and restaurateur as Nobu Matsuhisa and to bring this internationally acclaimed restaurant to Hong Kong,” said Managing Director of the InterContinental Hong Kong, Jean Jacques Reibel.  “From its superb Japanese cuisine to its high profile clientele, NOBU at InterContinental Hong Kong will be a welcome and exciting addition to the Hong Kong and Asian dining scene.”

In Hong Kong for the official signing ceremony, Nobu Matsuhisa comments, “I am delighted to partner with InterContinental Hong Kong to open NOBU at the hotel in November, 2006.  Over the past several years, we have been interested in expanding in Asia.  It has been a matter of finding the right partner, the right location, and the right timing.  We have found all three with InterContinental Hong Kong.”

Nobuyuki Matsuhisa, known to the world simply as “Nobu,” is the acclaimed and highly influential chef proprietor of NOBU, MATSUHISA and UBON restaurants all over the globe, from Beverly Hills to New York City, London to Tokyo, Aspen to Milan, Las Vegas to Miami Beach.

Having worked as a sushi chef in Japan, Peru, Argentina and Alaska, Nobu Matsuhisa’s eclectic cooking style has evolved over the years to make him one of the world’s most acclaimed Japanese chefs.  NOBU restaurants are renowned for their innovative, cutting edge Japanese cuisine.
