Following the completion of a €45 million refurbishment programme, Ireland’s premier family resort, the Quality Hotel & Leisure Centre in Killarney, has re-opened. The first phase of the re-development programme was completed last year, more than doubling the capacity of the hotel to over 300 bedrooms. This includes 160 guestrooms, 64 luxury one and two bedroom suites, 63 family apartments and 24 superior 4-star holiday homes.
The second phase of the programme involved the refurbishment of the final 50 guest rooms, together with the addition of a host of new facilities to help make it a fantastic resort for families, including Mini Golf and Teen Zone. From Easter, the hotel will open their new KMX bikes and track, their outdoor multi-purpose sports pitch, suitable for tennis, basketball, volleyball and 5-a-side soccer. In the courtyard, kids and adults alike will be delighted with the new outdoor table tennis, giant chess and giant draughts.
Ushers Bar has also received a makeover, having been repainted, carpeted and it now boasts an outdoor decked area that can seat up to 40 people. Guests will also have great fun with QRK FM - the hotel’s very own radio station, which will be broadcasted through their TVs. A resident DJ will teach kids how to mix, record and broadcast! The resort features a range of dining options and evening entertainment for families and adults including Lannigans Restaurant, and two bars, Ushers Bar and the Lobby Bar.
The facilities at the resort suit all family styles and sizes. The 160 superior guestrooms located within the hotel, are fully equipped with a TV, hospitality tray, refrigerator and trouser press. The 40 luxury one and two bedroom suites consist of a kitchenette and spacious open plan dining and sitting room, with a TV and DVD player unit. These spacious and airy one and two bedroom suites are perfect for groups and larger families as the lounge can be re-arranged to sleep a further two children. Both the family apartments and self catering holiday homes include all the features essential to a family holiday - kitchenette, dining and lounge area.
The Club Vitae leisure complex in Quality Hotel & Leisure Centre Killarney includes an 18m indoor swimming pool, toddler’s pool, therapeutic geyser, lounger pool, steam room, jacuzzi and sauna. A state of the art gym, aerobics studio and wellness therapy suites are also available to guests. Central to the resort is ‘Friendly Fellows’, an entertainment group offering a variety of full day activity programmes for all age groups.
