US Airways adds Portland service

US Airways will start a new service beginning on June 1 from its Philadelphia hub to Portland, Ore.This new service gives US Airways nearly 450 daily flights to 115 non-stop destinations from Philadelphia, which also serves as the airline’s international gateway with service to 16 destinations in Europe and 19 in the Caribbean and Latin America.

“The revenue and scheduling synergies realized from our recent merger allow us to easily add service between the former West Coast and East Coast route networks, ultimately benefiting customers across the United States,” remarked US Airways Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing Scott Kirby. “Customers in Portland will enjoy service into our Philadelphia hub, which provides extensive East Coast and international connectivity. Conversely, our long-time and loyal Philadelphia passengers will have nonstop access to another destination on the West Coast.”

US Airways will provide the service (operated by America West) with the Airbus A320 aircraft, which has capacity for 150 passengers (12 first class and 138 coach class).
