Continental hooks up Latino voice

Continental Airlines and the National Association of Hispanic Publications have announced a partnership that will give Continental “Official Airline” status for the NAHP’s 2006 membership campaign and events.
“The NAHP member publications not only are the voice of the Latino community, they provide a connection to the Latin American homelands of many of their readers,” said Pete Garcia, Vice President, Latin America, Continental Airlines. “As the second-largest U.S. airline to Latin America and the Caribbean, Continental shares the NAHP’s interest in Latin America and Latinos in the U.S.”

The partnership consists of Official Airline status for:
    *  NAHP’s 2006 National Membership Drive
    *  NAHP 2006 Annual Convention, March 29-April 2, 2006, Las Vegas
    *  NAHP 2006 Media Summit, May 17-18, 2006, Washington, D.C.
    *  NAHP 2006 Chicago Ad Summit, Aug. 24-25, 2006

“This kind of corporate commitment from Continental is an example for all companies to consider. It supports professional involvement by small and disadvantaged businesses in our trade organization; it builds bonds between Hispanic media and Continental Airlines as an industry partner; and it highlights NAHP’s intention to act as the leading light for all Hispanic publications throughout the United States,” said Lupita Colmenero, President of the Board of NAHP, Inc.

Continental’s support will enable the NAHP to grow its membership ranks, particularly among small and minority-owned publications that may not have the resources to fully participate in professional training programs throughout the country, NAHP officials said.

The sponsorship includes a Continental MeetingWorks discount agreement for NAHP members traveling to NAHP events and training programs.
