WRI unveils m-commerce technology

Users Can Now Access Content and Booking Engines for Hostelworld.com and WorldRes.com via Mobile Phone
Web Reservations International (WRI), is launching two portals aimed at the growing audience of users demanding search and booking functionality on their mobile phones.

The service, built on the O2 I-mode platform, makes Hostelworld.com and WorldRes.com available to travelers via mobile phones. I-Mode’s technology is the first that uses phone-like menus and text input to ease both navigation and data entry.

The service is available in more than 150 countries. Travelers who have multiple forward bookings can also dispense with paper confirmations and review their full itinerary on their phone, regardless of how the bookings originated.

“We have found that our Hostelworld.com customers are increasingly using web-cafe’s to book and retrieve confirmations while they are traveling,” said WRI CEO Ray Nolan. “What this new offering means for our customers is that they no longer have to be confined by seeking out and paying for web-cafe’s - users can do it all on their cell phone.”

Nolan added, “Our WorldRes.com mobile offering is the most comprehensive mobile hotel offering bar none. Business and leisure travelers can now make or retrieve hotel reservations in seconds. It is now possible for WorldRes.com users to search for a great rate while in a cab from the airport.”
