Sony has signed a partnership deal with OTRUM, to supply interactive TV solutions to the hospitality industry in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. George Damigos General Manager FTV of Sony Europe comments, “This partnership with OTRUM marks an important milestone in our TV business across Europe and comes at a time when consumers are demanding even more from their entertainment and communications technologies, both in and away from the home. Sony pioneered TV technology with the launch of TRINITRON and we expect the recent introduction of the “BRAVIA” brand in Europe to open a whole new chapter in our business, by making “BRAVIA”, the gold standard for televisions across the globe. Working with OTRUM we will bring this expertise to the hospitality industry and offer business/consumer travellers sound and picture clarity that is second to none.”
OTRUM always has the guest in mind, and ease of use of the interactive solution is a primary consideration. Key aspects of usability of OTRUM Interactive solutions, such as a single remote control, central control of settings (e.g. volume) and low battery detection will remain in place when a Sony LCD screen is used.
“OTRUM is all about choice. Customers need to be in control of their budget levels for an interactive TV solution. We believe that we can manage this by tailoring the solution to meet their needs. By partnering Sony we can give our customers a wider choice of screens, as well as adding a high-quality and highly desirable LCD to our product portfolio,” states Mr. Fredd Causevic, President and CEO of OTRUM, “The brand positioning of Sony is indisputable, and we are extremely motivated by the TV business’ determination to get a strong foothold in the hospitality market. It is a pleasure to work with a company that has the same respect for innovative development as we do.”
Both Sony and OTRUM have strong sales and distribution channels in their core markets. As LCDs are still considered by many to be premium products, OTRUM’s financing and rental options will make these products more affordable to a wider market.
