BA.com rose to take the number 1 spot in the Hitwise Commercial Airlines category on Friday 12th August for the first time this year, and also became the 54th most visited website in the UK as travellers sought information on the disruption.
The site has held the #3 ranking each week for the past 15 months, and has taken the #2 spot in the daily rankings (from Ryanair) just 4 times since the beginning of 2005 (on 1st January, 9th January, 11th August and 13th August).

BA.com experienced an increase of 83% in visits during the disruption (comparing Tuesday 9th August with Friday 12th August.)

The other site that was most affected was the site for Heathrow, www.baa.co.uk, which experienced a 68% increase over that same three day period.

For the week, BA’s market share site was up 19%, however it still ranked 3rd behind easyJet and Ryanair.
