Today the International Olympic Committee announced that the 2012 Olympic Games would take place in London. Owing to this announcement VLM Airlines has gone into a flurry of excitment as the main carrier at London City Airport, with over 440 flights every week.Johan Vanneste, Managing Director of VLM Airlines comments:

London City is by far the closest airport to the Olympic Stadium, with a distance of only 3 miles. In the run-up to the games, it is expected that large numbers of people involved in the planning, organisation and construction of the Olympic Village infrastructure will have to travel constantly to and from London.
