ATA Seeks Independence Day

David Stempler, President of the Air
Travelers Association
, today announced the Association’s support for the
repeal of the Wright Amendment, which would open up Love Field in Dallas, all
of Texas, and the rest of the nation to low fares to and through Dallas.  “As
we celebrate our nation’s Independence Day this weekend, passengers can only
dream of the millions of dollars they would save if Dallas was freed from the
tyranny of the Wright Amendment,” Stempler stated.According to Stempler, “Dallas/Ft. Worth is the last battle in the ‘War of
Independence’ for airline passengers.  Airline passengers flying to and from
the following ‘colonies’ could benefit from the low fares to and through
Dallas Love Field—Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut,
Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky,
Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana,
Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North
Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South
Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia,
Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming.”
Stempler also noted that, “passengers from the eight Wright Amendment
states—Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico,
Oklahoma, Texas—would also benefit from low fare flights to the other 42
states.  We see the repeal of the Wright Amendment as a nationwide issue since
it will provide low fares throughout America.”
Stempler concluded, “As we kick off the summer with the July 4th weekend,
let’s ring the Liberty Bell for low fares throughout the land and support the
repeal of the Wright Amendment!”
