Yoga - The Sicilian Way

thinkSicily has come together with Beyond, a small group of yoga experts dedicated to sharing their love of yoga and outdoor activities, to offer you rejuvenating yoga breaks taking place in June and September in the unspoilt Sicilian countryside.

These yoga breaks seek to bring serenity and balance in sublime surroundings of the central Madonie Mountains drawing together the holistic aspects of yoga with the emphasis on inspiring yoga practice, interesting excursions, delicious food and relaxation. Whether you are a beginner or advanced practitioner, the team of expert teachers will help you gain a deeper understanding of yoga and will give you the chance to reflect and explore personal goals of all levels.  Jean Hall, the author of two books on yoga and an ex-professional dancer, will teach daily two to three hour yoga classes based on Ashtanga principles in June.  Chris Swain, a qualified Iyengar teacher and registered osteopath, will head up the course in September.  His two to three hour classes will focus on alignment, extension, stability and sequencing exploring both active and passive aspects of yoga.

Following your morning yoga classes Huw and Rossella, owners of thinkSicily, will take you on fine walks taking in the views of the Madonie peaks, the Tyrrhenian coast and Mount Etna. Your afternoons can also be spent visiting Cefalù, renowned for its beautiful sandy beaches and its famous twelfth-century cathedral, as well as other rustic villages and villas in the area.

You will be staying at a remote, family run “agriturismo” – Donalegge - located in the spectacular mountainous region between Palermo and Enna.  The farmhouse has been tastefully restored in a contemporary Italian style featuring a large infinity pool and the renowned ‘La Forchetta del Borbone’ restaurant.  Inspired by a modern and healthy ethos, the restaurant prides itself on creating delicious Sicilian dishes and delicacies.  You can also explore the medieval streets of Polizzi Generosa, Petralia Soprana and Petralia Sottana, three of the most beautiful Sicilian towns only a few minutes drive away.

Every detail for a perfectly organised holiday is undertaken by thinkSicily, the specialist tour operator with unbeatable local knowledge and expertise allowing travellers to experience the true Sicily.
