Active Hotels Listed as Top UK Employer by Sunday Times

Active Hotels has been listed for the second year running as one of the Sunday Times ‘Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work For’ in the UK.


ÊThe Sunday Times ‘100 Best Small Companies to Work For’ is the largest ever study of small company workplaces and was open to all companies with between 50 and 249 employees.

Active Hotels, the only Cambridge-based company to make the listing, prides itself on a motivating, fun and well-balanced employee environment. The company’s motto is to ‘recruit, retain and develop great people’. This was well reflected in the Sunday Times survey, with 84% of employees feeling they can ‘make a difference to the company’, 86% excited about the direction of the company and 74% not feeling their work interferes with home life.

Adrian Currie, Chief Financial Officer, Active Hotels accepted the award at a ceremony held in Battersea Park. He stated: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of Active Hotels as our employees are the main reason for our business success. We pride ourselves on our high recruitment standards, strong coaching and development processes, a culture of communication, responsibility and risk-taking at all levels and, where possible, a promote from within culture.Ê Retention and motivation of employees remains high and should ensure the continued success of Active Hotels.”


Active Hotels is based in Cambridge and currently employs 95 people and is investing heavily in expansion of its model across Europe. To keep up with these ambitious growth plans, the company is set to recruit a significant number of additional staff in 2005 across every team ranging from Technology and Sales through to Customer Services and Distribution.
