Kristie Karsen has been named spa director of the newly opened Nidah Spa at the Eldorado Hotel & Spa, which debuted on December 15. Nidah, meaning “your life,” brings guests through the journey of life by embracing the philosophy of the Native American Medicine Wheel. Signature treatments are themed after the Sacred Directions - North: restorative; East: renewal; South: vitality; West: purification and Golden Center: balance. Karsen will oversee the opening of the 4,300 square-foot posh spa, as well as the day-to-day operations.
“The opening of the seven treatment room spa will further enhance the Eldorado Hotel & Spa’s desirability as a destination for both meetings and leisure travelers alike,” said Karsen. “I’m thrilled to be joining the team at such an exciting time.”
Prior to joining Nidah Spa, Karsen was the spa manager at the Vista Clara Ranch, where she was responsible for all aspects of managing a destination spa. Her daily responsibilities varied from training and hiring staff to crafting new treatments and menus. Prior to Vista Clara, Karsen served as a spa manager for Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in Sonoma, California.
“Kristie’s experience in the health and wellness industry will help catapult the Eldorado’s spa to success,” stated Phil Baxter, first vice president, Tishman Hotel Corporation, which manages the hotel.
Open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., the Nidah Spa reconnects guests with the beauty of Northern New Mexico from the moment they arrive with golden and sand hues, soft illuminating lighting, scents of cedar and regional music. All spa treatments at Nidah use freshly prepared ingredients indigenous to New Mexico and begin with a ceremonial “smudging” to dispel any negative energy. The spa boasts locker rooms, steam rooms featuring aromatic oils, and a spa boutique for “to-go” versions of Nidah’s best treatments and other spa-related items.
