Tobago was named the Best Caribbean Island of the Year, with Tobago hotels also receiving honours, at the Caribbean World Travel Awards during World Travel Market in London earlier this month.Tobago beat 23 other islands, including Jamaica, Barbados and the Bahamas to receive this prestigious international award. “Absolutely fantastic! This award has instilled so much pride in the people of Tobago and Trinidad.Ê We are so proud to receive this honour. Tobago encompasses the genuine Caribbean experience and we are pleased that the island is being recognised for what we’ve always felt,” said Warren Solomon, Vice President of Tourism.

Two of the island’s hotels also received honours, the Blue Haven Resort as Best Eco Resort and the Coco Reef Resort & Spa as Best Resort of the Year. “Tobago offers not only a wonderful range of accommodations but also a full Caribbean vacation experience. The island boasts secluded pristine beaches, a rich culture and lush rainforests,” commented Neil Wilson, Secretary of Tourism, at the Tobago House of Assembly.Ê
