InterContinental to Aid Hurricane Victims

InterContinental Hotels Group, the world’s largest and most global hotel company,
along with the IAHI, the most established independent franchisee
association in the industry, is today announcing its plans to assist
disaster relief efforts in Florida and across the southeastern United
States. InterContinental Hotels Group owns a portfolio of well recognized
and respected hotel brands including InterContinental Hotels and Resorts,
Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites,
Candlewood Suites and Hotel Indigo which will be involved in this effort.
IHG will encourage the 22 million members of Priority Club Rewards, the
world’s largest hotel rewards program, to donate their points to the
ongoing disaster relief efforts of the American Red Cross. These points
will be converted into dollars and matched by IHG and the IAHI up to
$100,000.

Starting immediately and continuing through October 31st, members may
contribute their Priority Club Rewards points in increments of 10,000
points, to the American Red Cross by going to http://www.priorityclub.com/
.. These donations will be used to provide temporary shelter and other
relief supplies for the people directly impacted by the recent hurricanes
as well as American Red Cross disaster relief workers.

“Our properties across the region are now the second home for thousands of
our guests from across Florida and other parts of the southeast who have
been impacted by these devastating storms. IHG and our franchisees in the
IAHI, want to help as well as to give back. We also felt that many of our
Priority Club Rewards members—our most frequent and loyal guests—
would want to be a part of this assistance. So, as we did nearly three
years ago for the victims and families of 9/11, we have opened this
donation opportunity to our Priority Club Rewards members around the world
who also want to do something,” said Kirk Kinsell, senior vice president,
Americas Franchising and Business Development, who works closely with the
franchise community.
