The BodyHoliday at LeSPORT, St. Lucia, has opened the first phase of Coubaril Valley, an eight-acre activities and meditation center for sports and spirituality. It is home to the hotel’s tennis courts, and soon, a non-regulation golf course, archery, meditation, yoga and T’ai Chi. Named after a local tree, the focal point of the $1 million center is the two hard surface tennis courts, where guests already are enjoying day and night play. In August, a hilltop archery range with views of the Valley and the Caribbean will be ready and, nearby, a yoga and Tai Chi green.
By September, a four-hole golf course with approximately 80 yards between holes, four practice areas with nets and a putting green to perfect chip shots, will be finished. The course architect is James Ponko, designer of the nearby St. Lucia Golf Club’s eighteen-hole course. It winds around three lakes which are joined by waterfalls. In the middle of one and accessible via a bridge, will be a meditation temple. A labyrinth for private and group meditation classes will also be at Coubaril Valley. The lakes and meditation features will be ready by the winter season.ÊÊÊ

Twin tennis and golf pro shops with digital video for classes, equipment for the games, small boutiques and a refreshment area complete the center. All activities, with instruction, are included in The BodyHoliday’s daily rate. Depending on type of room and time of year, the daily per person rate based on double occupancy now through December 21, 2005, except for the Christmas/New Year’s period, ranges from $263-$463. Garden view rooms for singles with no supplementary charge range from $260-$388.
