Travelport Announces New Online Booking Features

8th Jul 2004

Corporate Solutions today announced the launch of new capabilities for its online booking engine that make it the most flexible and efficient tool available for business travel.

New features include integrated Web fares, localization and key enhancements to Travelport’s unmatched policy management tools. All of the new capabilities are available to Travelport customers using Travelport online booking - either in combination with Galieo or other Global Distribution Systems (GDS), or as part of Travelport’s complete package of fully automated and seamless online and fulfillment services.

“The combination of new online booking features and the unparalleled control and flexibility they offer customers to help them manage their travel programs clearly make Travelport’s booking engine the most sophisticated in the industry,” said David Falter, Travelport president. “This technology produces increased savings, greater service, and higher satisfaction for our customers.”

Travelport’s next-generation integrated web fares make selecting the best fare simpler and faster than ever. Travelers now see more flight choices in a single display, including select third-party Web content, corporate negotiated fares, and discounted airline Web fares such as Galileo’s preferred fares select program.Ê Corporations can choose vendors that are most important to their travel program with no limitation as to the number of sites that can be included.Ê Such seamless integration allows travelers to easily access their complete travel itinerary, while providing travel managers with comprehensive reporting and the ability to easily locate travelers.

“By providing customers with expanded Web fare content, giving them more policy control over it, and integrating it into a results display of total available fares, Travelport delivers the capabilities corporate customers are looking for,” said Falter.

“The Web Fare enhancements in this Travelport release mean our customers get more flight choices, and a streamlined search and buy process,” said Jeff Merritt of Ross & Babcock Travel, an agency that uses Travelport’s online booking tool as part of their travel offering to corporate customers. “This ease-of-use helps drive user adoption and, ultimately, savings for our customers.”

Travelport continues its leadership in policy management tools in this release with six new ways to implement travel policies. Introduced in 2003, Travelport’s Advanced Policy(tm) management tools deliver unprecedented flexibility to travel managers so they may easily integrate corporate preferences, negotiated rates and travel policy rules directly into the online booking tool for a systematic and streamlined approach to cost efficiency. In addition to applying policy to Web fares, customers may now create and apply detailed policies for individual air segments, scheduled arrival time, length of flight time, number of stops en route, type of car rental, and hotels in customer-specified cities. Each of these enhancements extends the control customers have in building their own travel program.

“The more options we have for managing our travel policy within our booking tool, the more savings we create,” said Travelport customer Linda Bunt from Siebel Systems. “A perfect example of this is the capability within Travelport to apply and change policy in any part of our online program. The success ofÊthis recent release reflects Travelport’s commitment to working with us to deliver the flexibility we need.”

“Only a company completely dedicated to business travel and totally immersed in working with business customers can produce the creative, detailed and necessaryÊ tools to help customers optimize their programs and generate cost efficiencies that help to strengthen their bottom line profits,” said Charlotte Blackwell, Travelport vice president of product and marketing.
