Mandarin Oriental Appoint Abram as GM in Jakarta

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has announced the appointment of Andrew Abram as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta. Abram, who was formerly Hotel Manager of another group property, The Excelsior, Hong Kong, has a long and distinguished industry career, having worked at prestigious properties in the United Kingdom, Middle East and Asia.
During his tenure with The Excelsior, he was responsible for the day to day operational management of the 900-room property.  Prior to his arrival in Hong Kong, he was General Manager and Corporate Director, UK of The Carlton Towers hotel in London which is operated by Jumeirah International of Dubai which Abram first joined in 1997 as Corporate Director, Sales and Marketing.

Whilst he was at the Jumeriah Group, he developed branding and launch directives for the five-star Jumeirah Beach Resort (No1 Hotel in the World, Conde Nast Traveller 1999; Best New Business Hotel in the World, Business Traveller Magazine, UK 1999). He was also involved with the launch of the Wild Wadi Aqua Park, Beit Al Bahar, a luxury 19 villa complex; Burj Al Arab, the World’s tallest hotel and a ‘super’ deluxe 202 all suite property; Emirates Tower complex comprising of a 400 bedroom hotel, office tower and shopping boulevard; Jumeirah Beach Club, a 50 suite beach resort; the Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management; Jumeirah Hospitality and The World Trade Centre Hotel.

Prior to his arrival in the Middle East, he was Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Inter-Continental Hotels and Resorts, Bangkok, Thailand. He also held various sales and marketing roles in Oman and the United Kingdom with Inter-Continental and Hilton International.
