Spa & Resort And Medical Spa Expos And Conferences Exhibit Strong Growth In L.A., NYC And Miami

America’s fastest-growing events for professionals in the spa and resort and medical spa fields are building momentum at a record pace.  Fueled by a combination of strong exhibitor support, cutting edge conference sessions and an aggressive marketing campaign, the Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expos & Conferences are gaining ground at a rate that has surprised even the most optimistic of show organizers.Professionals in the spa and resort and medical-related fields from around the country are signing up to attend the event at the Los Angeles Convention Center, February 15-16, 2004.  Show organizers, Reed Exhibitions, will also conduct Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expos and Conferences in New York City, April 18-19 at Pier 94, and at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Sept. 12-13.

According to Reed Exhibitions Vice President and Show Director Greg Topalian, “The response to all of the shows has been nothing less than amazing.  We expected a positive reaction and have been cautiously optimistic for months, but now we are seeing larger than expected numbers of exhibitors signing up for all three of the shows.  All indications are that buyer registrations for LA and New York are extraordinarily promising as well.”

Topalian said that the L.A expo is on track for hosting more than 200 exhibitors and in New York he expects more than 300.  Fifty booths have already been sold for the Miami show next September.  He noted that the list of exhibitors includes such impressive companies as Avancé, Dragonfly, Lumenis, Peter Thomas Roth, Silhouet-Tone, and Chadsworth & Haig, among others.

To support the events, more than 100,000 conference schedules are being printed and distributed to prospective attendees, exhibitors and influencers.  Hundreds of thousands of direct mail pieces are being sent to prospective attendees.  Dozens of ads are scheduled to boost registration even further. Top tier keynote speakers and presenters will be directly involved at each of the shows.

Show officials predicted that attendance will be in the thousands at the co-located Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expos and Conferences in each of the three cities next year.  With nearly three months remaining before the shows open at the Los Angeles Convention Center, sales of booth space on the expo floor are termed “brisk” and are surpassing all expectations for the inaugural event.

For the New York show, management’s conservative estimate is that this expo and conference will keep pace with its past record-breaking results.  “Right now sales for New York are about 30 percent higher for next year than they were in 2003,” said Topalian.  “Early indications are extremely positive for the Miami show as well.”

Topalian acknowledged that typically experienced exhibitors adopt a wait and see approach about new expos.  “That is exactly opposite of what we are seeing with the spa and resort and medical spa exhibitors,” he explained.  “In fact, their enthusiasm, encouragement and participation as sponsors and exhibitors in Los Angeles, New York and Miami are very gratifying.”

Expansion of the shows to Los Angeles and Miami was spurred by the phenomenally successful growth of the New York event in just two short years.  Exhibitor participation and attendance shot up 100 percent this year over last.

Topalian noted that the kickoff keynote speaker in Los Angeles will be Deepak Chopra, M.D., renowned for introducing Quantum Healing, which integrates the powers of the mind and body to foster a natural healing process.
