Kenya Introduces New ‘Health-Spa’ Lodges

A lodge, a camp and a beach resort in Kenya are taking the safari to a new level by offering specialised health, beauty and fitness options.
All of this comes with the perfect backdrop for an all natural retreat - unspoilt wilderness, pristine beaches and a world far apart from the stressful hustle and bustle of western life.
An hour’s flight North from Nairobi, Loisaba Wilderness is a 150 square kilometre private wildlife conservancy and working cattle ranch on the edge of the Laikipia Plateau.  Guests can enjoy complete freedom to choose how they spend their time, from trekking with camels and mountain biking to rafting and riding through the wild canyons of two great rivers.
The conservancy`s luxurious lodge has now added a health spa so guests can combine adventure and game tracking with massage and aromatherapy.
The spa has been specially designed so guests can relax and enjoy personalised treatments in an open air environment, surrounded by the natural stillness and calm of Africa.  Blended from a mix of qualified knowledge and local tradition, the spa offers a unique range of complementary treatments.
As well as full body massages and mineral-rich Dead Sea mud wraps facials, manicures and pedicures are also available.  A stay at Loisaba will revive your mind, rejuvenate your body and revitalise your soul.
Also in Laipikia is Makena Hills, a health retreat in total wilderness surroundings.  Located on beautiful Ol Ari Nyiro, the ranch of world famous author and conservationist Kuki Gallmann, Makena’s offers health and well-being stays to those looking for the excitement and adventure that is an African safari.
With a resident Yoga expert and three qualified aromatherapy masseuses, Makena’s offers yoga, meditation, aromatherapy and ayurverdic massage.  Each of the 12 luxurious tents in the camp have their own treatment bed on a private verandah where beauty treatments such as facials, pedicure, manicure and body scrubs can take place.
These treatments use locally extracted natural, certified organic oils from the ranch. Guests can also bathe in the nearby thermal hot springs surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.  Meals in the camp include healthy home-produced food, including certified organic vegetables and honey, ensuring guests receive the full natural benefit of their stay.
Whether the aim is to loose weight or just to get fit, WildFitness caters for all fitness levels and ages - from athletes to those who have not exercised in years.  Guests stay at Baraka House, a beautiful private house that blends into the natural environment and offers comfortable simplicity.
Encompassing the Arabuko Sokoke Forest Reserve and spilling onto the white sands of the Watamu Marine National Park with its clear Indian Ocean waters and coral reefs, WildFitness offers its guests the chance of achieving primal fitness.  The 9 days, 2 or 6 week long dedicated programmes aim to give the guest animal like fitness: agility, power, speed, strength, endurance and all round health.
