Wyndham International has announced the ground-breaking of a $37-million expansion programme at Las Casitas Village - a Wyndham Luxury Resort in Las Croabas, Puerto Rico, located adjacent to Wyndham El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa. The project is particularly noteworthy given that Las Casitas Village has won AAA`s Five Diamonds for six consecutive years and is the only Five Diamond resort in Puerto Rico. The project, Phase II of the original master plan, will add 67 luxury villas to the existing 90 together with two swimming pools, including a new infinity pool.

The new facilities, to be built on seven acres of land next to the existing resort, are a joint venture between Wyndham International and The Interlink Group, a Puerto Rican-based real estate development company. Interlink was the development partner for the first phase of Las Casitas Village, which opened in 1994.

“We are very pleased to have begun this expansion programme at Las Casitas Village,” commented Fred J. Kleisner, Wyndham`s chairman and chief executive officer. “The new facilities, which will be complete in June 2004, will continue to embrace the exacting standards for intimate luxury so coveted by our guests and residents.”

The architects and designers of the original resort are also returning to complete Phase II. Thomas Marvel Architects, interior design firm Jorge Rosello & Associates, and landscape architect firm EDSA will add to improvements which include larger living and bedrooms as well as balconies, marble bathrooms and Italian Snaidero kitchens. The ambience will mirror the pastel-shaded exteriors and flower-lined paths of the originals, with picturesque courtyards and fountains throughout. A new reception centre will unite the new facilities with the existing village.
Of the 67 new units, there are 17 one-, 25 two- and 25 three-bedroom villas. The fully furnished villas range in price from $400,000 to $800,000 and there are already options on 44 of the units, providing a convincing testament to the success of the project.

Las Casitas Village is situated just above, Wyndham El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa, at the highest point of a scenic 300-foot bluff. The property provides a harmonious balance between the splendors of an upscale resort with the intimate comforts of home.
